The Bluffs hosts junior open tournament Aug. 5 by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Men�s League sponsored The Bluffs first Junior Open Tournament on Monday, Aug. 5.

Over 60 young golfers from a four-state area competed in both girls� and boys� divisions aligned by age groups.

Results were (Vermillion youth are identified by an asterisk*):

Age 7-8

Boys � First Jake Hogen*, 24; second, Seth Tonner, 34; third, Christian Davis, 89.

Girls � First, Chynna Stevens*, 46. They played six-hole rounds from the 150-yard tees.

Age 9-11

Boys ��First, Mark Gubbell, 41; second, Dylan Deschepper, 46; third, Ryan Berry, 51. They played a nine-hole, red tee competition.

Age 12-14

Boys � First Ty Dannenbring, 79; second, Justin Blachford, 86; third, Tim Bleil*, 88.

Girls ��First, Anna Isaacson*, 101; second, Chelsey Gauer*, 116; third, Kati VanWyk, 133. They played 18 holes, using the white tee boxes for boys and the red tee boxes for the girls.

Age 15-17

Boys � First, Greg Lindholm, 78; second, Alex Nielson, 80; third, Sean Frerk, 81.

Girls ��First, Allison Stewart*, 77; second, Karrie Plate*, 81; third, Jill Viedt, 100. They played 18 holes, with the boys hitting from the blue tees and the girls from the red.

Altogether, there were 18 boys and five girls in the Vermillion contingent. Aaron Steele placed fourth in the 9-11 age group. Jordan Boots was fourth and Alex Schaack was tied for sixth with Donny Stewart in the 12-14 age group.

The Men�s League provided hot dogs, chips, beverages and plaques.
