Jacque Cousteau believed that environment and economics must work hand in hand and balance in order to achieve a healthier planet. Your city Solid Waste Department strives toward maintaining this balance. You, as resident of Vermillion, can help us achieve the balance. Did you know that no tax dollars are spent on landfilling or recycling? The full operations are supported by the landfill tipping fee (gate charge) and the recycled product sales. At Your Disposal's objective is to help you become an even better recycler, which in turn will help us to achieve a stronger environmental/economic balance. In the weeks to come, we will be exploring each product category recycled in Vermillion and explaining the do's and don'ts of recycling.

First of all, recycling in Vermillion is "Drop Off" at the MVR facility, which is located at 840 North Crawford St. (east end of Cherry St. before the bypass bridge turn north). Recycling hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon. The facility provides literature explaining our programs. Please stop and pick some up or ask any of the personnel for assistance. You may also visit the cityofvermillion.com Web page and go to "Departments/Solid Waste" or call 605-677-7076.
