Cross country teams compete in Madison by Jim Prosser Eleven schools were represented at Madison�s John Collignan Invitational Cross Country Meet, Friday Aug. 24, with competition in both boys� and girls� divisions.
No team points were kept but of the 90 individual boy runners, Tanager placers in the top 20 were: Justin Manning, 11th, and Craig Powell, 13th. Placing 42nd was Wilber Lio, with Mitch Bierle finishing at 55th. Andrew Manning was 59th and Dan Pearson was 63rd.
Other VHS participants were Tom Dendinger, Caleb Berry and Danny Redlin. Members of the Tanager cross country team who were not entered in this meet were Anish Patel, Danny Shinh and Raleigh Tiahrt.
For the girls, Sarah Spencer from Sioux Falls Lincoln was first and Tanager placers were: Megan Griffith, eighth; Katarina Gombosz, 16th; Kayla Nelson, 17th; and Nicki Mollet, 19th. Following at 26th, 27th and 29th were Katie Dehner, Kayla Mollet and Morgan Brooks, in that order.
Tara Dehner finished 36th and Theresa Ring was 48th, while Megan Bedard and Sarah Plate were 61st and 62nd. Other members not entered in this meet were Emily Renner and Alisha O�Connor.
The schools competing were Arlington, Garretson, Harrisburg, Howard, Huron, Madison, Mitchell, Sioux Falls Lincoln, Sioux Valley, Vermillion and West Central.
