Hastings Hospital Adds Cancer Center HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) — Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital officials unveiled a $5.5 million, 13,000-square feet expansion project.
The project is a one-story cancer treatment center to be built adjacent to the current hospital campus, said Micheal Kearney, the hospital's president and chief executive officer.
The center will house nine chemotherapy stations, several exam rooms, physicians offices and a healing garden, Kearney said.
The building will house both medical and radiation oncology services under one roof, Kearney said.
A national search also is being conducted for a medical oncologist, who will combine with Dr. Claudia Perez-Tamayo to provide the backbone of physician services in the new center.
Perez-Tamayo works in the hospital's radiation therapy department.
Groundbreaking is expected in late fall or early winter with construction to take about a year.
