Man Using Lewis And Clark Boat Replica PIERRE (AP) — An Iowa man plans to travel the Missouri River in a boat similar to one used by explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark.
Butch Bouvier, of Council Bluffs, and a small crew plan to paddle up the river this month in a pirogue. The boat was used to carry equipment and supplies.
Bouvier builds such replicas. He and his crew plan to leave from the Fort Randall Dam near Pickstown on Sept. 15 and travel up the river to Pierre.
