Margaret Lehrke Margaret Elaine Lehrke, 73, Yankton, died Monday (Sept. 2, 2002) after an extended battle with cancer.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. today (Friday) at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, with the Rev. O.K. Anderson of Yankton officiating. Burial is in the Sisseton cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jeff Chevalier, Stacey Rise, Chad Brown, Christopher Brown, Mark Schaunaman, Paul Schaunaman, Kevin Navratil, Richard Moen and Richard Moe.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 22, 1929, in Sisseton to Abel and Helen (Moe) Arneson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended school in Sisseton, graduating in 1947. She attended Northern College in 1948 where she received her teaching certificate. She taught country school in Harmon Township for one year. On Sept. 18, 1949, she married Marvin Lehrke at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sisseton. They lived and farmed in rural Bryant Township until 1969 when they moved into Sisseton. She worked at Montgomery Wards Catalog Store in customer service and at Sisseton High School. In 1974, she went to work for the Roberts County Extension and Nurses Office, and later worked for the Roberts County Weed Office, retiring in 1995. In February 2001, she moved to Yankton and made her home with her daughter until her death.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Grace Lutheran Church Ladies, Miriam Circle, Grace Lutheran Foundation Board, American Cancer Society and served as board chairman of the Sisseton Memorial Library. She enjoyed reading and crocheting.
She is survived by two daughters: Marcy (Ron) Brown, Yankton; and Marva Jean (David) Chevalier, Bloomington, Minn.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Darlene Schaunaman, Browns Valley, Minn., and Berneta Navratil, Farwell, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one infant sister.
