Obituaries Rosabell M. 'Rosie' Johnson
Rosabell M. "Rosie" Johnson, 75, Vermillion, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at the Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Vermillion, with the Revs. Brook McBride and Kwen Sanderson officiating.
Burial was in the BluffView Cemetery, Vermillion.
Visitation was from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, with the family present, at the Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion.
She was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Vermillion to Hugh and Mary (Drake) Wilson. She graduated from Vermillion High School in 1945. She married Mike Farris Dec. 25, 1943, in Elk Point. He died March 6, 1970. She married Huss Johnson June 30, 1972, at Vermillion. He died Feb. 4, 2002. She worked as an Avon representative for 24 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Vermillion, the Senior Citizens and was a 50-year member of the Vermillion Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by her son, Raymond (Deb) Farris, Vermillion; a daughter, Virginia (Dick) Rowlands, Vermillion; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a daughter and a brother.
Edward V. Brown
Edward V. Brown, 94, Vermillion, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Vermillion, with the Rev. Don Imming officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Vermillion.
Visitation was from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.
Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion, was in charge of arrangements.
He was born Nov. 9, 1907, in Pierre, to Archibald and Elizabeth (Brechtel) Brown. He graduated from University High School, Vermillion. He married Blanche Dimmick Jan. 25, 1931, in Vermillion. She died Oct. 9, 1983. He married Sarah Larson Walz Oct. 20, 1984, in Vermillion. He farmed, installed air conditioners and furnaces, and did plumbing work and carpentry until retiring in 1972.
He was a member of the Vermillion Eagles and the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Vermillion.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; one daughter, Sheila (John) Nirk, St. Peters, MO; two step-daughters, Jayne Merrigan and Patricia Berglund, both of Vermillion; one granddaughter and 12 step-grandchildren.
Pauline A. Jensen, 78, Sioux Falls, died Sept. 12, 2002 at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer; seven daughters, Mary (Mike) Dunn, Eden, Donna (Tom) Neville, Madison, Joan (Steve) Schultz, Grand Forks, ND, Jean (Bill) Schoenfelder, Olathe, KS, Barb (Ron) Kokenge, Sioux Falls, Dianne (Mike) Forseth, Sioux Falls, Cheryl (Mike) Meinders, Sioux Falls; 17 grandchildren; two sisters, Laverne Nelson, Sioux Falls, Helen (Marvin) Reuss, Sioux Falls; and two brothers, Merrill (Maxine) Schleich, Emery, Nicholas (Alice) Schleich, Emery. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary (Kayser) Schleich.
Visitation began at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 at George Boom Funeral Home, where the family greeted friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16 at St. Lambert Catholic Church, Sioux Falls.
