Register to vote in the Nov. 5 election Oct. 21 is the deadline for voter registration for the Nov. 5 election. If you are a United States citizen age 18 or older on the next election day, a resident of South Dakota, not judged mentally incompetent by a court of law, or under a sentence of imprisonment for a felony conviction, you may register to vote.
Voter registration locations are: the county auditor's office; city finance office; driver's license station; military recruitment offices; public assistance agencies providing food stamps, TANF or WIC; Department of Human Services which provide assistance to the disabled; and mail-in registration with forms from the county auditor's office or the Secretary of State's Web site at www.state.sd.us/sos/vote.htm
People use the concern of not wanting to be called for jury duty as their reason for not registering to vote. If you have a driver's license, you are
already a candidate for being selected for jury duty so registering to vote won't be a factor.
