Richards announces District 17 candidacy Brendyn Richards, Vermillion, is running for one of two South Dakota House seats in District 17, serving Clay and Turner counties.
"I am ready to represent you and lead South Dakota into a bright future. I want to do this as the next member of the South Dakota State House of Representatives, serving the good people of District 17," said Richards.
Richards, a resident of the Vermillion area since 1990, a graduate of USD, and a board member of the Vermillion Lions Club said, "I plan on providing a fresh, new voice in Pierre that better represents the immediate concerns of our district. I believe in open government, a government where all voices in this district should be heard. I will always make myself available to my constituents for any questions or concerns they may have. Please, if you have any concerns or suggestions don't hesitate to call me at 253-2333. I will be more than willing to help."
Richards believes in the great need to provide for South Dakota veterans and the senior citizens' needs by providing lower prescription drug costs and striving to support legislation in favor of affordable health insurance.
He also is a strong supporter of providing our schools with the necessary resources to operate. This starts by recruiting and keeping high-quality teachers, and very importantly, paying them with an appropriate salary equal to other states. Richards also believes the agricultural economy in South Dakota is of utmost importance to the future. He would fight to promote biodiesel, ethanol, and wind energy as an avenue for farmers to encourage growth. Richards said, "As the District 17 House representative, I will serve you, and fight for you."
