Yankton Rallies Past Arrows For 3-2 Win WATERTOWN — The Yankton Gazelles upended the Watertown Arrows 21-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-14, 15-11 in Eastern South Dakota Conference volleyball action Thursday night.
Danielle Storm topped the team in kills with 12, and served 18-20 with four ace serves. Shanna Ibarolle came up with eight kills, 13 digs, and served 7-10 with three ace serves. Maggie Youngberg laid down six kills and 14 digs. Amy Livingston was 12-12 with one ace serve and four individual blocks. Brittney Salonen led in set assists with 30, served 13-13 and had three ace serves. Katie Gertsma also was a leader in digs with 14 for the night.
The Gazelles JV team defeated the Arrows JV 25-22, 25-9.
Emily Witte was a key player with seven set assists, serving 10-10 with one ace, making four blocks, and six digs. Cassie Iverson and Hope Leader each had six kills, and two solo blocks, and Sierra Neuharth served 13-13 for the Gazelles.
Yankton's sophomore team outscored the Watertown Arrows 24-12, 19-25, 25-2. Leading the Sophomores was Kendra Deitz who served 20-20 with four ace serves, and seven digs. Keisha Shelberg had four kills, and was 8-8 in serves received. Jessica Marquardt had six kills, Alli Johnson went to the floor for five defensive digs, and Jade Sompsin had two blocks. The Gazelles had a total of 16 kills, eight assists, 36 defensive digs, and three blocks.
The Freshmen A-team lost to the Watertown A-team 21-25, 25-10, 21-25. Yankton's B-team defeated their opponents 25-17, 25-19.
