Bike ride for St. Jude raises $3,100 Nearly 60 riders journeyed to Burbank for the Bike Ride for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, on Sept. 15, a beautiful fall day. Nearly $3,100 was collected for children afflicted with cancer.

was Jennifer Kendall; Kristen Schwasinger, CD boombox, ALSAC; Dana Nelson, $50 bond, Community First; Sam Miller, $50 bond, CorTrust; and Lyanna Amiotte, silver minted coin, First National Bank. The youngest rider was Hannah Lash; the oldest rider was Wendall Shouse; and Dennis Kotschevar walked the distance to Burbank.
Mary Geffre Johnson, coordinator, thanks businesses, volunteers, and participants who helped with the ride. A special thanks to the police and sheriff's departments for assistance in making the ride safe for the bikers.
The goal this year is $3,500, and donations and contributions can still be sent to Johnson at 1516 East Cherry St., Vermillion, SD 57069.
T-shirts, sports bags, prizes and certificates will be delivered to the schools in four weeks.
Johnson expressed gratitude to the Vermillion community for their generosity, caring and sharing for a worthy cause.
