October starts the new 4-H year The month of October signals the beginning of a new 4-H year for 4-H members, leaders, parents, volunteers and Extension staff in Clay County. Kids will be deciding which of the over 80 different areas they want to enroll in to learn about their favorite projects. The choices range from A (aerospace and rocketry) to Z (zoology) with a lot to choose from in between such as bicycle, cat, foods & nutrition, dog, horse, photography, beef and much more!
All new and/or interested parents and kids who want to know more about joining 4-H are invited to call the Clay County Extension Office at 677-7111. Age eligibility is 8-19 years of age. There is no fee or cost to join.
Asked why they join 4-H, kids will give these three answers most often: 1) Develop skills to succeed in the workplace; 2) Improve goal setting and decision-making skills; and 3) Become a community leader.
