Suchy, Schaefer star at Gayville Hall Oct. 11 Gayville Hall presents the acclaimed North Dakota singer-songwriter Chuck Suchy and his special guest, fiddler Tom Schaefer of St. Paul, MN, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, at 502 Washington St. in Gayville.
Suchy is a working farmer, born and raised in the hills along the Missouri River south of Mandan, ND. He who has been singing and playing guitar and accordion since his youth. He began writing his own ballads and songs around 1982, slipping them into his performances and providing a unique
portrayal of contemporary American farm life from an insider's point of view.
He has played major concert halls and festivals across the U.S. and Canada.
Schaefer, who was born and raised in the Wakonda community, is an anesthesiologist who picked up the fiddle under the tutelage of the late Chet Olsen of Wakonda while he was a medical student in Vermillion in the 1970s.
He soon was the South Dakota state fiddle champion several years in a row and joined the acclaimed Rocky Mountain Oyster Band for many years. He has played with his friend Suchy frequently in concerts and on Suchy's latest CD.
Gayville Hall emcee John McNeill and his wife, Susan, will open the show.
