Thomson and Noble to perform USD Professor John Thomson, and Professor Emeritus Jack Noble will perform a recital of music for violin and piano on Oct. 24 in Colton Recital Hall in the Warren M. Lee College of Fine Arts on the USD campus. They will perform music by Elgar. The recital is significant for another reason in that Thomson will perform on an exceptional violin made by Carlo Giuseppe Testore almost 300 years ago in Milan. The violin has been heard in Vermillion many times before as it is the violin of Marjorie Devilbiss. Thomson was privileged to acquire the violin last year. He said, "It's like passing the torch I hope I will be able to do it justice." The violin has been in Minneapolis being fine tuned (after 300 years some things need looking at!) and Thomson will pick it up this Saturday. The concert begins at 8 p.m. and is free.
