USD students gain teaching experience Students in The University of South Dakota School of Education are gaining on-the-job experience through student teaching assignments at area schools this fall.
The students began their assignments October and will continue through December. Students are teaching at kindergarten, elementary and secondary levels. All education students are required to student teach for at least one semester. Special education majors spend two semesters student teaching.
Student teachers from Vermillion are:
Sarah Ewing, daughter of Mark Gerhardt and Barbara Kingsbury, who is teaching elementary education at Lennox; and Alison Larson, daughter of Kirk and Liz Hogen, who is teaching elementary education at Elk Point-Jefferson.
