Alumni game is Dec. 7 by Tyler Knudson The Wakonda girls' basketball program has found a perfect way to start off its 2002-2003 new season.
All girls' basketball alumni are invited back to the Wakonda Gym to show off their skills once again on Saturday, Dec. 7. An inner-squad scrimmage between the present Warriorettes will take place at 6:30 p.m.
Also, the After-Prom Committee will host a supper beginning at 5:30 p.m. The supper will include lasagna, French bread, green beans, bars, lemonade and coffee. Both the games and the meal are free-will offering.
Many changes have taken place in Wakonda School and the community. The new addition will be open for tours and the good ol' Wakonda hospitality will be in full force.
Come out and get reacquainted with the women that helped to put Wakonda on the map and at the same time get a new look at your new Warriorette team.
Hall of Fame Coach Ron Flynn will come out of retirement as will 1994 Championship Coach Tim Phlanz to try their luck at yet another win, against each other.
State scoring record holder, Becky Flynn Jensen, will score a few more points with her teammate and former standout Augustana player Nikki Johnsen Gilbertson. And Lana Christensen Humpal might make a few more steals, then give it up to Meghan Beatty for three points.
But, remember, many of these women are now moms and haven't dribbled the round ball for some time. They might be a little rusty.
Money raised from the game will go toward warm-up pants and shooting shirts for this year's Warriorette team. Come out and support your former and present Warriorettes.
