A capacity crowd made of people from both sides of the Missouri River braved chilly temperatures Nov. 10 and gathered at the Buffalo Run Winery west of Vermillion to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Newcastle/Vermillion Bridge dedication. Jim Green, co-chairman of the Newcastle/Vermillion Missouri River Bridge Committee, told the crowd that the committee planned to place a plaque on the bridge, but learned after the plaque was made that regulations prohibited it. Green (left) presented the plaque to Vermillion Mayor Roger Kozak for the city to keep until the day when it can be placed on the bridge as originally planned.
