Nelson, Reeves garner VHS Students of Month Mikael Nelson and Heather Reeves have become the newest Vermillion High School Students of the Month. They were selected from faculty endorsements for the October honors. Each will receive a $100 scholarship from First National Bank in Vermillion.
Nelson's interests are primarily in technology. He attended the NexTech Technology Leadership Summit and he is a graduate of Cisco Systems Networking Academy Program. He has volunteered for several church and community activities and was a student assistant for the summer 2002 TTL program.
Nelson intends to enter the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology next fall while pursuing a degree in computer engineering and computer science. His parents are Mark and Deb Nelson.
Reeves is noted for her skill and dedication in baton twirling. She has garnered four national baton championships and seven South Dakota titles. Her other involvement has been in show choir, jazz choir, National Honor Society, Girls State, Youth Business Adventure, symphonic band, and the school musicals. She also is a baton and dance instructor.
Her parents are Debra Reeves Coaker and Dean Reeves. Her college intentions are to attend The University of South Dakota for a degree in business management.
