Police conclude rape investigation The Vermillion Police Department has concluded its investigation of a gang rape in the city earlier this fall, and no charges will be filed.
A gang rape was reported to police Sept. 4. The alleged offense occurred at a residence on the south side of Vermillion. The victims were three women from northwest Iowa.
At the time the investigation began, there were five possible suspects. A two-month-long investigation has been concluding and all information pertaining to it was forwarded to Clay County States Attorney Tami Bern.
The states attorney has carefully reviewed all the facts surrounding this case. As a result, it has been determined that there is insufficient evidence to file any charges.
