Burke, Thorson join USD swimming, diving program The University of South Dakota Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ron Allen has announced that Jason Burke of Bellevue (NE) West High School and Eric Thorson of Eden Prairie (MN) High School have signed national letters of intent to swim for the Coyotes and enroll at USD.
Burke finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.36) at the 2002 Nebraska State High School Swimming Championships. He also was a member of the 200 medley relay that established a school record.
Thorson, who will serve as team captain in 2002-03, earned all-state honors in the 500 freestyle as a junior. He was a member of a team that won the 2002 Class AA State High School Team Championship, Minnesota State High School Lake Conference, and Minnesota High School Section 6.
Twice named NISCA Swimmer of the meet, he is a three-time varsity letter-winner. He also excelled off the field, earning honor roll academic status.
