Gas prices drop since last month

Gas prices drop since last month The nationwide average price of self-serve regular gasoline declined 8.6 cents per gallon since mid-November and as of Dec. 10 averaged $1.378 per gallon, according to AAA. Last month the average nationwide price was $1.464 per gallon. One year ago the average price was $1.122 per gallon.

Gasoline prices were unseasonably high in October and November as demand for gasoline remained strong and tension increased over Iraq's compliance with United Nations' arms resolutions. While demand for gasoline among consumers remains high, the start of arms inspections in Iraq has eased pressure on the price of crude oil.

The current average price of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline in South Dakota Dec. 10 was $1.384. This is about 13 cents lower than last month, but nearly 23 cents higher than a year ago. The average price of gasoline in Sioux Falls was at $1.29, down 12 cents over the past month. The Rapid City average is at about $1.48, down 6 cents from last month.
