Koupal named UNO MVP, Nelson on all tourney team South Dakota junior forward Mandy Koupal was named the MVP of the Nebraska-Omaha Classic, held Nov. 29-30 at the Sapp Fieldhouse in Omaha, NE. Koupal and Nelson were the two members of the Coyotes named to the squad.
Koupal averaged 25.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in wins over Emporia State, 73-59, on Nov. 29 and Southern Colorado, 71-63, on Nov. 30. She scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds vs. Southern Colorado and had 26 points and 12 rebounds.
She hit 55.2 percent (16-29) from the field, 85 percent (17-20) from the free throw line and 66 percent (2-3) from the 3 point line.
Nelson, Yankton, averaged 15 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. Nelson hit 8-15 three-point field goals (53.3 percent). In the two games, Nelson hit 11 of 26 field goals, had two blocks and two steals. She scored 19 points, including five 3-point baskets, in the win over Emporia State and 11 points in the victory over Southern Colorado.
