South Dakota men are #8 in NCAA Division II The University of South Dakota men's basketball team (8-0) has been ranked #8 in NCAA Division II basketball, according to a poll releasedDec. 17 by the NABC/Division II Bulletin.
South Dakota, which was not ranked in the pre-season poll, have opened 8-0 for the first time since going 17-0 to open the 1999-00 season. The Coyotes recently went 2-0 at the High Desert Classic. They defeated Cal State-San Bernardino, 84-73; and Western Washington, 95-86 at that tournament in Las Vegas.
The #8 ranking is the highest for South Dakota since being ranked #4 in the country during the 2000-01 (February) season when USD won the NCC title.
The Coyotes will host Southwest State (4-4) this Friday at the DakotaDome with the gametime at approximately 8 p.m.
