South Dakota takes five titles at Robinson-Ehret preseason open The University of South Dakota men's and women's track and field teams had five titles and 12 second place finishes as they opened their home track and field season on Dec. 12 at the DakotaDome. The meet included participation by 10 squads from throughout the region.
For the men's team, Chris Slatt, Amherst, OH, was first in the long jump (7.31 meters) while Derek Pelc, Norfolk, NE, won the high jump (6'8.25). Adam Lindahl, Eden Prairie, MN, captured the 5,000-meter run (14:53.70).
The women's team was led by Amanda Muller, Schuyler, NE, who won the shot put (13.32 m) and Emily Fox, Sioux Falls, who won the 400-meter dash (59.56).
Second place finishers for the USD men's team included: Paul Brozik,Winner, long jump (7.10 m) and high jump (6'8.25); Matt Dewald, Yankton, mile run (4:35.37); Pat Belling, Omaha, NE, 400-meter dash (50.36); and Joel Solomonson, Stillwater, MN, 800-meter run (1:57.19).
Runner-up finishes for the women's team included: Muller, weight throw (16.0 m); Brianne Vette, Spearfish, long jump (5.44m); Jamie Davis, Colton, pole vault (11'04.25), and high jump (5'03.25); Tiffany Barber, Chester, shot put (12.88m); and Sara Hoffman, Mitchell, 60-meter hurdles (9.04).
The Coyotes' track and field teams will next host the Bill Hillenbrand Meet at the DakotaDome on Jan. 10-11.
