Tanagers rally to defeat Tigers 45-43 by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers rallied to pull off an upset of the Harrisburg Tigers 45-43 in boys� basketball Dec. 13 at home.

The Vermillion JV had trailed by two going into the final period.

The season-opening win gave Vermillion JV a record of 1-0 while Harrisburg JV fell to 0-1.

Ben Oberle scored 12 points, made three assists and three steals. Matt Preszler added 11 points, and pulled down 11 rebounds.

�Ben Oberle and Matt Preszler led the offense,� said Vermillion JV coach Rex Huska.

The game was knotted 8-8 at the end of the first period, the Tanagers trailed 21-15 after the second period, and then trailed 30-28 going into the final period.

The Vermillion JV held onto the win from the free throw line, making 13 of 24 charity tosses to 3 of 6 for Harrisburg JV.

�We have to shoot better,� said coach Huska.

The Vermillion JV made 2 of 8 three-pointers. The Tanagers made 15 of 41 field goal attempts, while the Harrisburg JV was 19 of 49 from the field. The Harrisburg JV connected on 2 of 14 three-point tries.
