USD faculty to sing with USD Orchestra The voice faculty of the department of music at The University of South Dakota will be featured in the USD Community Orchestra's fall concert on Monday, Dec. 9, 8 p.m. in Slagle Auditorium. Dr. Sue Ann Stutheit, soprano; Dr. Matthew Harden, tenor; and Professor Christopher Mitchell, bass-baritone will perform arias, duets and trios from Don Giovanni, one of Mozart's most beloved operas.
Don Giovanni, based on the legend of Don Juan, artfully combines comedy with tragedy, life with death, and affirmation with damnation.
Additional items in the concert include a contemporary work for strings by Colorado composer Edward Hanson, a suite of dances by Leo Delibes, and the rousing overture to Der Freischutz, by Carl Maria von Weber. There is no admission charge and the public is encouraged to attend.
