Vermillion varsity falls to Lennox 67-42 by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were downed by the Lennox Orioles 67-42 in boys' basketball Dec. 17 at home after falling prey to a 27-8 third-quarter deficit.

"Lennox is a very athletic basketball team," said Vermillion varsity coach Jason Huska. "We didn't play well defensively and our shooting was off. I'm confident we will turn things around with some time off and practice time."

The Tanagers trailed 18-8 after the opening period, trailed 34-16 after the second quarter, and then trailed 61-24 going into the fourth quarter.

The loss dropped the Vermillion varsity to a record of 1-3, while Lennox improved to 1-0.

The Vermillion varsity made 3 of 15 three-pointers and sank 13 of 16 free throw tries. The Tanagers hit 13 of 43 from the field, while Lennox was 26 of 44 from the field. Lennox connected on 6 of 13 three-point tries and connected on 9 of 17 free throw tries.

The Vermillion varsity was outrebounded 34-19.
