"We started out the day a little slow, but we continually improved," said coach Casey O'Connor. "Several wrestlers were out of the lineup with other engagements, which did not help our dual standings, but several individuals stepped up to wrestle for the team.

"Jordan Anderson, a new wrestler for the squad did a nice job in the varsity lineup," he continued. "Brad Simons led the team as the only Vermillion wrestler to go 3-0 undefeated on the day. On the JV squad, Luke Heine was undefeated on the day."

O'Connor says his team will have to continue to improve in certain areas, but he is impressed with his young wrestlers.

"We realize the areas we struggle in and continue to improve," he said. "Over the past week, I have been very impressed with many of our young wrestlers. Many of them are gaining great mat time experience and others are already performing at an outstanding level."
