Bartels receives award from Rocky Mountain News At the recent annual Awards Banquet held by the Rocky Mountain News, reporter Lynn Bartels received the Editor's Award from John Temple, editor, president and publisher of the Denver newspaper.
"This is the only award I vote on, and mine is the only vote. It was not an easy decision," said Templeton in presenting the award, "but Lynn stood above the crowd. She epitomizes the axiom that one person can make a difference. Lynn took the leading role in our political coverage. And in that role she did everything possible to make sure the News was the source of election news. She is an adept reporter. Her work ethic is legend. Her stories are well written. And she's not afraid to have some fun. She took great pride in putting together The Stump, the daily collection of political items on our election page, and it became the place politicians wanted to be seen."
Bartels is in her ninth year at the News and during that time has also received the Best Reporter Award three times as voted on by her colleagues.
A graduate of the Northern Arizona University School of Journalism, Bartels is the daughter of Fritz and Mary Bartels of Vermillion.
