Dahlin is named January USD Employee of Month Gary Dahlin of Sioux Falls has earned the January Career Service Employee of the Month Award at The University of South Dakota.
Dahlin, building maintenance lead worker, was honored recently during a reception at USD School of Medicine Health Science Center in Sioux Falls. USD President James W. Abbott presented Dahlin with a plaque and a check.
Pamela Anderson, Autism Program assistant, nominated Dahlin based on his ability to always be courteous, friendly and helpful. In her nomination letter she states that "Gary is always willing to lend a hand and he always has a cheerful greeting for everyone." Anderson also wrote that Gary goes above and beyond his job description and exemplifies what an employee of the month should be.
"I am a people person and enjoy working with good natured people," Dahlin said. "I believe that if you show respect you get respect back."
Dahlin began working at USD in 1978 as a courier for the SHARE program. He has provided service for over 25 years. His family includes wife Brenda and two sons, John and Craig.
