Dinner supports camping program The Wakonda United Methodist Men will be hosting a soup and sandwich dinner on Sunday, Feb. 2. Serving hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The men will be serving chicken noodle soup, chili, taverns, ice cream bars and a beverage.
The dinner is open to the public and a free will donation is requested. All proceeds go to the youth camping program.
For several years the men's group has sponsored scholarships for youth to attend summertime church camps. The United Methodist church has two major campsites in South Dakota one at Lake Poinsette and the other at Storm Mountain in the Black Hills.
Youth sometimes attend other camps that are held at Methodist camps in other states.
Last year the local men's group provided over $700 in scholarship money for the camping program. The public is invited to come to the church basement on Feb. 2 and enjoy the meal.
