Tanager wrestlers place 6th at BV Invitational; 5 earn medals by Jim Prosser The Tanager wrestlers competed at Brandon Valley on Saturday, Jan. 11 in an eight-team invitational.
Seven of nine VHS wrestlers achieved winning records at the meet, with five awarded medals.
Second places went to Kyle Hubert at 103 and Brad Simons at 215; and thirds were claimed by Craig Powell (112), Andy Hayner (130) and Adam Hasse (171). Also recognized as top six placers were J.J. LaMie, fifth at 125; and Taylor Birgen, sixth at 189.

Coach Casey O'Connor was impressed with his wrestlers.
"Once again, I was extremely pleased with our performance throughout the tournament," said coach O'Connor. "After our success at the Sioux Falls Lincoln Tournament and now the BV Tournament, I feel our squad is more confident in their abilities. We are wrestling more aggressive and offensive compared to earlier in the year. This makes all the difference in our team. We ended the day by placing seven of our nine wrestlers.
"It was a great day for Tanager wrestling," he added.
