The Waltner Ensemble to perform in Vermillion

The Waltner Ensemble to perform in Vermillion The Yankton Area Concert Association is pleased to bring the Waltner Ensemble to the Vermillion Middle School on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 2:30 p.m.

This program is a gift to schools from the concert association and CorTrust Bank of Vermillion. It is their goal to concertize at least 5,000 students in southeastern South Dakota this month. As schools face financial difficulties, the music program is often one area where budget cuts are made. Thus, the Student Concert Committee of the YACA has taken upon itself this task of bringing these mini-concerts into area schools.

The program is titled "From Rossini to the Rolling Stones" and will introduce the students to all types of music; it will be enjoyable for students of all ages. The two sisters and their brother are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Waltner of the Freeman area.

Tim is a 2001 graduate of USD School of Medicine and is currently a radiology resident living in Olathe, KS. He has considerable experience in solo performance as a pianist/vocalist/guitarist and has done some composing.

Anne is a graduate of Gosehn College, IN, with a degree in piano performance and biology. She has been involved in numerous piano competitions and solo performances and has notable proficiency

in improvisation and music arrangement.

She is currently teaching music in Mussoourie, India. She is home on what would be their summer break.

Mary is a graduate of Bethel College in North Newton, KS, with majors in vocal performance and German. She has recently completed a full year of vocal study in Vienna, Austria and has performed with numerous artists including Sarah Brightman. She intends to pursue graduate work in opera and vocal performance.
