USD’s Head Start receives grant

USD's Head Start receives grant Head Start in Vermillion will receive a grant totaling more than $300,000, according to the Washington, DC office of U.S. Sen. Tim Johnson.

The grant, awarded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Children and Families, will help fund The University of South Dakota's Early Head Start program in Vermillion.

USD's program will receive $336,917 and South Central Child Development will receive $573,774.

Head Start programs are designed to provide all children with the opportunity to start their learning process before entering school. The programs provide educational services for young children as well as resources, training and support for parents.
