The Tanagers had trailed by six earlier in the first period.
The Vermillion JV's record moved to 6-2 after the win. The Pierce season mark fell to 3-4.
Kyle Mollet scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds. Mollet hit six of seven field goals.
The Tanagers fell behind 15-11 after the opening period, went into the locker room up 23-17 at halftime, and then led 39-25 going into the final period.
The Tanagers heated things up from three-point range, hitting 4 of 8 from long distance.
"I thought our shot selection was better than in past games," said Vermillion JV coach Rex Huska. "We made 15 of 27 two-pointers, and 4 of 8 three pointers."
The Vermillion JV connected on 6 of 8 free throw tries. The Tanagers sank 19 of 35 field goal attempts, while Pierce was 14 of 45 from the field. The Blue Jays sank 1 of 4 free throw tries.
The Tanagers had some excellent individual efforts in the win.
"Ben Oberle and Chad Teigen each added 10 points," coach Huska said.
