Warriorettes win close contest with Tornadoes by Tyler Knudson Conference rivals Wakonda and Centerville played at Centerville in a close game on Jan. 14. The Warriorettes battled the Tornados every quarter for a last shot victory.
"As Wakonda's rivalry with Centerville is so heated, it was appropriate that the game ended with a last second shot and it was our turn to win," said Warriorette coach Stacy Huber. It was the Warriorettes first win against Centerville in five years.
The game started out neck and neck and continued that way for the rest of the contest. The scores were never far apart. The Warriorette were down at the half, 31-37, but the Warriorettes came back in the third and fourth quarters.
Chelsa Bohlmann led the Warriorettes' offense with 15 points all from the three point line. Other high scorers were Meghan Martz, 12 points and Nikki Johnston, 11 points.
Andrea Gregoire led the team in rebounds with eight. Kim Henriksen had seven assists.
Tara Adamsen from Centerville led the Tornadoes with 17 points. Alyssa Dierslson had 12 points.
The Wakonda Warriorettes junior varsity lost a close game to Centerville 28-32.
