Caf�'s official grand opening a real hit; nearly 300 attend by Ashley Steffen Wakonda's Community Caf� conducted its official grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23.
Nearly 300 people came through the caf�'s doors for the special event. Door prizes, free coffee, cookies, and lemonade were given to patrons both days.
The caf� is owned by the town of Wakonda. Managers are Roger and Marsha Steffen.
"On Saturday we served about 130 people and Sunday we served 150 people," they said. "Sunday was the first time we offered a buffet and salad bar, and approximately 73 people took advantage of that."
The Sunday buffet was served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Steffen family was excited to see an excellent turnout both days. They would like to say thank you for all the support and beautiful, thoughtful flowers and plants that have filled the restaurant.
The hours for the caf� are Monday through Saturday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
