Hillside Community Church will celebrate Hillside Community Church will celebrate the renovation of its worship center with special activities on Sunday, Feb. 16. A worship and dedication service at 10:45 a.m. will be followed by a potluck dinner for the church family and guests. Community friends are invited to an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at the facility, located at 1800 Constance Dr., in northwest Vermillion.
The year-long improvement project accommodates updated lighting and projection technology, expanded seating, a larger platform, and partitioned foyer and kitchen areas. Renovation involved changing some interior walls, doors and windows on the main floor of the church. New carpet, seats and color complete the remodeling of the 23-year-old building.
Hillside Community Church (C&MA), formerly Vermillion Alliance Church, was established in 1943. The original building at the corner of Prospect and National streets has housed several other churches and child-care facilities, since the current facility was built in 1979.
Pastor Jim Tieszen believes that the renovated building is prepared to serve the Vermillion Community with opportunities for worship, Biblical teaching, and preparation for life in the 21st century.
