Schaack, Russell named students of the month Rob Schaack and Deanna Russell were selected as the Vermillion High School Students of the Month for January. These seniors were endorsed by faculty members for their leadership in the classroom and in their activities. First National Bank � Vermillion rewards their efforts with a $100 scholarship to the college of their choice.
"Rob is one of the most cordial students I know. He makes others feel special," according to Schaack's faculty nomination. He has a 3.5 G.P.A. and plans to study business management at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
His activities include golf, Renaissance Program, Student Council, basketball, baseballl, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is the senior class vice-president, was golf team captain for two years and won the State A Golf Championship last fall. His parents are Tom and Peggy Schaack.
Russell's endorsement indicated that "Deanna is a disciplined student who makes goals and strives to achieve them." Her activities and honors include the National Honor Society, jazz choir, show choir, tennis, band, Girls' State alternate, president of the concert choir, and South Dakota Honor Choir.
Russell is presently maintaining a 3.75 G.P.A. at VHS, and she is planning to major in psychology at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL. Her parents are Bill Russell, and David and Carmen Howard.
