"We were able to qualify two wrestlers for the South Dakota State Wrestling Tournament," said Coach Casey O'Connor. "Both Hubert and Simons were state qualifiers last year. This will be a great advantage to them since many wrestlers get caught up in the event their first year. If they both wrestle to their ability, I feel placing in the top eight is certainly obtainable for both athletes.
"The rest of the Vermillion squad ended the season on Friday," he continued. "Overall, we have seen great improvements from everyone. Our upperclassmen ended the season with their best ever career season records. Adam Hasse and Taylor Birgen ended their careers by contributing greatly to our team success this season. Andy Hayner just fell short of qualifying for the state tournament, but will be back next year as a top competitor. The remaining underclassmen also had great gains. We will continue to improve their skills and come back next season with many returning wrestlers."
