Tanagers rally to defeat Trojans 45-37 by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers rallied to defeat the West Central Trojans 45-37 in boys' basketball Jan. 30 at home.
The Vermillion JV had trailed by four at halftime.
The Vermillion JV improved its record to 8-2. The West Central season mark fell to 5-6.
"Despite our poor start, we had a great comeback to take our first 26-20 lead at the end of the third quarter, then 35-34 at 6:45 in the fourth and held on for the rest of the game," said Vermillion JV Coach Rex Huska.
The Tanagers fell behind 10-3 after the first quarter, but advantages of 6-3 and 17-7 in the second and third quarters gave them a lead of 26-20 going into the final period.
The Vermillion JV hit 2 of 6 three-pointers and connected on 7 of 12 free throw tries. The Tanagers connected on 16 of 41 from the field, while West Central was 11 of 37 from the field. West Central connected on 3 of 9 three-pointers and hit 12 of 17 free throw tries.
