Trombone festival concert is Feb. 28 The 8th annual Siouxland Trombone Festival concert will be held at the Vermillion High School auditorium on Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. The program will feature 50 high school trombonists from the quad state region and the trombone ensembles from The University of South Dakota and Augustana College.
Closing the program will be a massed trombone ensemble performance which will combine all of the high school and college players. The festival soloists and conductors are professors Jan and Vern Kagarice, who are trombone faculty members at the University of North Texas at Denton, TX.
A special portion of the program will feature the couple in a performance of Conversations for Tenor and Bass Trombone by Small.
The program is open to the public. Plan to attend as you will experience a rewarding evening of good music presented by the largest group of trombones in the area. For additional information, contact Dr. Mitchell at the USD Department of Music.
