Gayville-Volin does well at music contest The following ratings were earned by Gayville-Volin instrumental music students at the Region I music contest held in Vermillion on March 12.

I � Flute solo, Ashley Nelson;

I � Trumpet solo, Allen Alsdorf;

II � Clarinet solo, Kendra Hanson;

II � Flute solo, Kerra Hanson;

I � Woodwind choir: Ashley Nelson, Traci Schmidt, Libby Claeys, Jessica DeJong, Sharron Jurrens, Hillary Barta, Cayla Christiansen;

I � Flute trio: Laura Brown, Mindy Holdorf, Ashley Coke;

I � Clarinet trio, Jenni Brown, Libby Claeys, Jessica DeJong;

I � Trumpet duet: Val Bye, Brian Bye (Emily Jepsen, accompanist);

II � Clarinet duet: Jenni Brown, Joni Jorgensen.

The students did a fine job of representing GVHS. Possible ratings are: I � superior, II � excellent, III � good, IV � fair, V � poor.

Mrs. Lori Hanson, GVHS choir director, accompanied the soloists at the piano. The band students are under the direction of Jack Smart.
