Man hospitalized following collision

Man hospitalized following collision Two officers of the Vermillion Police Department view the wreckage following the collision of a van and semi-truck on Highway 50. by David Lias A Howard man was taken by air ambulance to a Sioux City hospital Wednesday after the van he was driving southbound on University Road pulled in front of a semi-truck heading west on Highway 50.

Lester Deloy, 65, was taken to Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital, and then transported by Mercy Air Care to Sioux City. His 9-year-old grandson was treated and released at Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital.

The driver of the semi, Dale Schlechter, 60, of Scotland,

wasn't injured.

The accident is under investigation by the Vermillion Police Department. Members of the Clay County Sheriff's Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Vermillion Fire Department and Vermillion Ambulance Department assisted at the scene.
