Students gaining teaching experience in area schools

Students gaining teaching experience in area schools Students in The University of South Dakota Professional Teacher Education Program are gaining on-the-job experience through student teaching assignments at area schools this fall.

The students began their assignments February and will continue through May. Students are teaching at kindergarten, elementary and secondary levels. All education students are required to student teach for at least one semester. Special education majors spend two semesters student teaching.

Student teachers from Vermillion include:

Kelly Marshall, daughter of Gary and Karen Marshall, teaching art education in Yankton; Chris Bartling, son of Jerry and Jody Bartling, teaching masters in education at Dakota Valley; Megan Tolsma, daughter of Lauren and Joan Tolsma, teaching elementary education at Dakota Valley.
