Williams, Lio are named February Students of Month The February Students of the Month at Vermillion High School were Jenna Williams and Wilber Lio.
Williams and Lio were selected for their excellent academic records and their involvement in a variety of activities. First National Bank in Vermillion will award them with a $100 scholarship.
Williams' faculty endorsement noted that she "has shown an exceptional degree of maturity and willingness to learn in class." She has a 4.0 GPA during high school and her parents are Beth and Jack Williams.
Her involvement includes National Honor Society, marching band, tennis, pep and, Honors Program and concert band. She is the German Club president and has been first-chair oboe for the Region I and the Quad-State Honor Bands.
Lio has achieved a 3.9 GPA and intends to major in engineering and music. His activities have been soccer, natural Helpers, Student Council, Science Bowl, cross country, debate, Student Congress and Quiz Bowl. He was the VHS Homecoming King and was selected to attend Boys State.
"Wilber has been a leader among his peers in both his curricular and non-curricular activities," according to his faculty nomination. His parents are Yuhlong and Biying Lio, and he presently plays for the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra.
