Lindsay Iverson returns to Nebraska 4-H camping team

Lindsay Iverson returns to Nebraska 4-H camping team The Nebraska 4-H Camps and Centers are proud to announce that Lindsay Iverson of Vermillion has been selected as a returning member of its summer staff team.

The team begins its summer by participating in extensive training in the areas of youth development, risk management, safety, and various camp program specialties. Iverson was selected from a group of applicants from Nebraska and several surrounding states.

Iverson's experience with the outdoors and enthusiasm for youth programs shine through in her work with campers. She was a hit last summer with her vocal solo of Under the Sea at Spotlight on Talents camp. She is planning to go into the medical field with her studies at Creighton University.

As 4-H camp staff, Iverson will spend her days leading activities such as canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing, hiking, nature, art, shooting sports, campfires, and more.

"Our program staff become teachers for the summer and are instrumental in providing a safe and friendly atmosphere to each of our camp visitors," said Bernie Lorkovic, 4-H natural resources education coordinator.

The camp programs are open to all youth ages 5-19, including those who are not members of 4-H clubs. Organizers hope to have many of the youth from Vermillion participate in summer camp this year. Deanna Rundle, three-year returning staff and program coordinator of the South Central 4-H Center, describes camp as, "One of the best experiences for kids; they gain so much self confidence and independence in such a short time. I really enjoy helping to create a positive experience that kids will remember for the rest of their lives."

Christy Fast, who has been selected as the summer health coordinator for the Eastern NE 4-H Center, said "It's so much fun to see kids from my home town climbing the 30-foot high wires or making new friends. Camp has meant a lot to me and I hope to share the experience with other in the community."
