Obituaries Marilyn Haugen
Marilyn Elaine (Dahl) Haugen, 59, of Yankton, died April 13, 2003 at her residence after a valiant fight with a long illness.
She was born March 6, 1944 in Minneota, MN to Siguard and Myrtle (Haugland) Dahl. She was raised in Laverne, MN and later moved to Irene where she attended high school. She met and married Burnell Haugen on Nov. 18, 1961. They moved to Anchorage, AK in 1962 and moved back to Yankton in 1964. She began working at the Human Services Center in Yankton in 1965, where she was employed for 35 years.
She lives on in beloved memory to her husband Burnell of Yankton; and the joy of her life, her six children, Rick Haugen, St. Peter, MN, Craig (Tammy) Haugen, Sioux Falls, Rob (Krista) Haugen, Cave Creek, AZ, Brad (Pam) Haugen, Tea, Kristi (Bill) Shuck, Canton, and Jennifer (Tim) Wechsler, Yankton; 11 grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Haugen, Jon and Jessica Seaton, Skylor and Samantha Drapeaux, Ethan Shuck, Samantha Winckler, Devon Haugen and Taylor and Brendan Wechsler. Her parents and one brother, Selmer, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery, rural Irene.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Hansen Funeral Home in Irene, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Jeanette Mary Madsen, 76, of Vermillion, died Sunday, April 13, 2003 at her son's residence after a battle with cancer.
Jeanette Theis was born April 1, 1927 in Hawarden, IA to John and Mildred (Ford) Theis. She attended school in Alcester, and married Irven Madsen on Aug. 18, 1945 in Vermillion. She was a homemaker, and helped on the farm.
Survivors include two sons Larry (Cyndie) Madsen of Vermillion, and Gary Madsen of Burbank; and three sisters, Dorothy (Charles) Gurnard of Mission, TX, Polly (Dennis) Athey of Olewein, IA, and Marge Groen of Fair Grove, MO. Also surviving her are six grandchildren.
Her parents, three sisters, and her husband, Irven, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion, with burial in BluffView Cemetery in Vermillion. Visitation was Tuesday, April 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion.
James E. Prusha, 76, formerly of Vermillion, died April 12, 2003 in Las Vegas, NV. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion.
Visitation begins one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be in BluffView Cemetery, Vermillion. Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
