Tanagers victorious over Beresford baseball team by Jim Prosser The Vermillion baseball team took advantage of some unusual hitting to claim a 14-3 victory over the Beresford Watchdogs at Prentis Park on Sunday, April 13 for their second win in the eight-team B league.

Kevin Bleil started and pitched the entire five-inning game, striking out 13 while giving up three runs on seven hits and three walks. He was backed up by some excellent field play with only two errors. The performance at the plate by the whole team was a welcome change from the previous three games.

The offense, with 12 hits and eight walks, was led by B.J. Campbell, who was on base four times, scoring twice and driving in three runs with three for four batting. Dan Holoch went two for two, scored three and had two RBIs. Andy Ofstehage was two for two, scored one, and two RBIs.

Ben Oberle was two for two with two runs scored. Bleil aided his cause scoring three times and driving in one. Kyle Mollet scored two runs on two for four batting and two RBIs. Ryan Mockler scored once, going one for two.

The only team members who didn't score were Collin Prosser who was on base three times, and Brad Schaack who reached base once on a walk.

Line scores: Tanagers � 14 runs, 12 hits, 2 errors, 7 lob; Watchdogs � 3 runs, 7 hits, 2 errors, 7 lob.

Season record is now 2-2.

The JV teams played a five-inning marathon which finally ended 10-9 in favor of the home team.

Collin Prosser pitched the first 2 1/3 innings giving up five runs on two hits while walking three and recording a K. He was relieved by Ben Oberle who kept the JV Watchdogs scoreless until the fifth inning when he was charged with four runs on three hits, two walks and two errors, tying the score at 9-9.

The young Tanagers scraped up a run in the bottom of the fifth (without the aid of a hit) to claim the victory for Oberle.

Brad Schaack scored three runs on one for four batting. Jason Donald went two for two, one run, two RBIs. Collin Prosser and Tim Bleil each scored once, going one for three. Alan Bos was one for three with one rbi. Jordan Anderson scored one and had one rbi. Oberle scored a run, and Brandon Hansen drove in a run with a walk.

Line scores: VHS JV � 10 runs, 6 hits, 5 errors, 7 lob; BHS JV � 9 runs, 7 hits, 5 errors, 4 lob.

JV record is 1-0-1.
