Bucks win two over Tanager basebell team by Jim Prosser The VHS baseball team played a varsity/JV double header against the Class A Yankton Bucks team at Riverview Park on Tuesday, April 29, and the results were less than we might have hoped for.
In the first game, the Bucks' Aaron Ankeny and Tanner Cornay combined for a five-inning, three-hit shutout as they trounced the visitors 10-0.
Tanager players registering a hit each were: Dan Holoch, Tim Bleil and Jason Donald. The only others to reach base were Kyle Mollet and Collin Prosser with walks.
Losing pitcher � Kevin Bleil; winning pitcher � Aaron Ankeny.
Line scores: Vermillion � 0 runs, 3 hits, 2 errors, 5 LOB; Yankton � 10 runs,11 hits, 0 errors, 6 LOB.
Season record is now 3 wins, 4 losses.
The second game became somewhat the same except the Tanager JVs scored three runs in avoiding a shutout. However, the Yankton JVs scored 6 and the JV season record fell to 2-2-1.
Leading the offense was Jason Donald who went two for two batting, scored a run and had one rbi. Kevin Bleil chimed in with two for three at bats, scored once and drove in one. Brandon Hansen was two for three and had one rbi. Tim Bleil walked twice and scored a run.
